Ridgeline guard Emilee Skinner named Cache Valley Media Group Prep Basketball Player of the Week – Cache Valley Daily

In a week filled with great performances from local high school basketball players, Ridgeline guard Emilee Skinner stood out, earning the second edition of the Cache Valley Media Group Prep Basketball Player of the Week.

The Riverhawks went an undefeated 3-0 this past week in no small part due to Skinner’s stellar play. The sophomore guard averaged 19.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.0 steals across those three games. Twice she scored 20-plus points, with 22 against Hurricane and 21 against Snow Canyon. Skinner’s other game, though not a 20-point outing, was hardly less impressive than the others as she recorded 16 points, nine assists, five rebounds and four steals against Cedar.

Skinner was also a nominee for last week’s player of the week award, averaging 20.5 points through the first two games of Ridgeline’s season in late November and the first week of December. On the season, Skinner is averaging 20.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 3.2 steals.

There were six other nominees this week (after just four in the first week), a testament to the great week of Region 11 basketball. The other nominees were Gracie Riley (Bear River), Jordan Child (Logan), Kali Jones (Mountain Crest), Logan Deal (Sky View), Luke Sorenson (Ridgeline), and Maren McKenna (Green Canyon).

Candidates for the Player of the Week award were nominated by Cache Valley Media Group staff and then voted on by all high school broadcast crew members, including “Hurricane” John Newbold, Jason Walker, Clint Payne, Dave Simmons, “The Patriot” Nick Zollinger, Jake Ellis, John Olsen, Cade Forest, Terrell Baldwin, Trent Carter and Eric Frandsen. Some stats may be unofficial.
