Logan guard Justin Anderson named Cache Valley Media Group Prep Basketball Player of the Week – Cache Valley Daily


After the first slate of high school boys and girls basketball games, Logan guard Justin Anderson has been named Cache Valley Media Group Prep Basketball Player of the Week.

Anderson helped the Grizzlies to a 3-1 start, 23.8 points per game, 5.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists. He also made 14-of-25 threes in those four games, a whopping 56.0 percent. In those four games Anderson scored at least 23 points three times, including 31 points in a 72-63 Logan road win over Spanish Fork. He also had 29 in Logan’s 83-40 blowout win over Tooele.

Other nominees for this week were Emilee Skinner, Tanner Davis and Cambree Tensmeyer. Skinner led the Ridgeline girls in four of the five major statistical categories, pacing the Riverhawks to a 2-0 start to the season. Davis led the Sky View boys to a 4-0 start including a sweep at a tournament in southern Utah. Tensmeyer led the Green Canyon girls in points, was third in rebounds, second in assists and also made seven threes overall, more than the rest of her teammates combined.

Candidates for the Player of the Week award were nominated by Cache Valley Media Group staff and then voted on by all high school broadcast crew members, including “Hurricane” John Newbold, Jason Walker, Clint Payne, Dave Simmons, “The Patriot” Nick Zollinger, Jake Ellis, John Olsen, Cade Forest, Terrell Baldwin, Trent Carter and Eric Frandsen.
