COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – UNLV has been predicted to claim the 2022-23 Mountain West regular-season title as voted by select the league’s head coaches and select media and announced Wednesday morning ahead of the Conference’s virtual media days.
The Lady Rebels received 26 out of 28 first-place votes, earning 297 points. UNLV returns four starters from last year’s squad that won the 2021-22 Mountain West regular-season title and the Lady Rebels’ first MW tournament crown. Among the returners for Lindy La Rocque, who is entering her third season as the Lady Rebels’ head coach, are all-Conference selections Desi-Rae Young, Essence Booker, Justice Ethridge and Alyssa Durazo-Frescas.
New Mexico was picked second in the preseason poll with 264 points and the remaining two first-place votes, while Colorado State was selected third with 232 points.
Wyoming was chosen to finish fourth with 207 points, San Diego State fifth with 200 points, Nevada sixth with 142 points and Boise State seventh with 140 points. Air Force is eighth with 125 points, Fresno State ninth with 113 points, San José State is 10th with 67 points and Utah State is 11th with 61 points.
