LOGAN, Utah –In memory of Cason Anderson, son of Utah State head football coach Blake Anderson, Utah State Athletics has established the Robert Cason Anderson Mental Health and Wellness Fund.

The fund will provide enhancements to the athletics department’s mental health and wellness resources. Through these enhancements, Utah State will provide increased mental health and wellness counseling services, educational opportunities, training and programing for student-athletes, coaches and support staff.

Continuing to develop Utah State’s mental health and wellness program through the Robert Cason Anderson Fund will help increase awareness and tackle the stigma surrounding mental health challenges, while offering greater support to all Utah State student-athletes.

Cason tragically passed away on Feb. 28, 2022, at the age of 21. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Nov. 7, 2000, to Blake and Wendy Anderson. He was a 2020 graduate of Jonesboro High School in Arkansas. Cason lived in many places throughout his father’s coaching career, but always considered Hubbard, Texas, to be his home. He moved to Pflugerville, Texas, in 2021, to be near his family and work for his uncle at Techline Pipe.

Cason had a passion for welding that started in high school and continued at the Tulsa Welding Academy, where he became a licensed welder. He loved all things outdoors, spending time with friends and family, and working with his hands. Cason had an amazing smile that would light up a room, a quick wit and sense of humor that always guaranteed a laugh, and never missed an opportunity to hug your neck and tell you how much he loved you.
