LOGAN, Utah – Utah State graduate cornerback Andre Grayson has been named to the 2022 Wuerffel Trophy Preseason Watch List, it was announced Thursday.
Named after Danny Wuerffel, the 1996 Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback from the University of Florida, the Wuerffel Trophy is presented each February in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The trophy honors college football players who serve others, celebrate their positive impact on society and inspire greater service in the world.
Grayson is one of nine players from the Mountain West named to the 115-player list.
During the 2021 campaign, Grayson recorded 30 tackles, including 3.0 tackles for loss and 1.0 sacks, to go along with three pass breakups in 13 games played. The 5-foot-8, 160-pound native of Rancho Cucamonga, California, had a season-high four tackles and one pass breakup against Boise State. He also had four tackles against Wyoming and against Oregon State in the Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl.
Grayson graduated from Utah State in the fall of 2020 with a degree in integrated studies and is currently working on his master’s in sports management. He was a 2021 academic all-MW honoree and spends countless hours working with various groups/organizations on campus and in the community.
