Cordova, Real Salt Lake beat Sporting KC 3-0 – Cache Valley Daily

SANDY, Utah (AP) — Sergio Cordova scored and Zac MacMath stopped one shot to lead Real Salt Lake to a 3-0 victory Sunday over Sporting Kansas City. Cordova put RSL (9-6-6) ahead for good at 1-0 in the 50th minute. Andrew Brody had an assist on the goal. Pablo Ruiz and Jefferson Savarino both scored once for RSL. RSL outshot Sporting KC (5-12-5) 18-5, with 10 shots on goal to one for Sporting KC. John Pulskamp saved seven of the 10 shots he faced for Sporting KC. Both teams are in action again on Saturday. Utah State’s Logan Bonner named to Maxwell Award Watch List – Cache Valley Daily

(AP Photo/John McCoy) LOGAN, Utah – Utah State graduate quarterback Logan Bonner has been named to the 2022 Maxwell Award Watch List. The Maxwell Award is presented annually by the Maxwell Football Club to America’s College Player of the Year. Bonner is one of four Mountain West players, including one of two MW quarterbacks, named to the 85-player list. Bonner set five single-season school records during the 2021 season with 3,628 passing yards, 36 touchdown passes, four touchdown passes in three-straight games, four touchdown passes in six games in a season and 2.57 touchdown passes per game. On the season, Bonner was 263-of-429 (.613) passing to rank fourth in school history in completions, sixth in attempts and seventh in completion percentage. He also had 3,694 yards of total offense to rank as the second-most in school history.
