Utah State leads the Mountain West with 191 scholar-athlete honors – Cache Valley Daily

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State led the Mountain West with a total of 191 Scholar-Athlete honors as a league-record 1,426 accolades were awarded by the league offices on Tuesday. Overall, USU had 156 total student-athletes share the 191 Scholar-Athlete honors. The MW Scholar-Athlete Award is one of the highest academic honors bestowed by the Conference. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better. A total of 19 student-athletes maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average, making up part of the 172 student-athletes in the league to accomplish that feat. Utah State led the MW with 12 honors from men’s cross country and 22 scholar-athlete accolades from the women’s cross country team. USU student-athletes were second in the league in men’s basketball (6), men’s golf (5), women’s soccer (18), softball (13), men’s tennis (6) and men’s track & field (17). The Aggies had the third-most honors among women’s track & field (25) and volleyball (10). Football, women’s basketball and women’s tennis rounded out Utah State’s honors with 14, five and three, respectively. Colorado State followed the Aggies with 161 scholar-athlete
