Free throw disparity and missed opportunities doom Aggies in Boise – Cache Valley Daily

BOISE, Idaho — Missed opportunities, tough fouls and turnovers spelled disaster for the Aggies on Saturday evening. They dropped their fourth game in a row losing to Boise State 68 to 57. It was Utah State’s third straight loss by double digits.    “Boise State made the plays down the stretch to finish us off,” head coach Ryan Odom said.   Utah State was down by just two with three minutes left. Guard Rylan Jones had just nailed a 3-pointer to cut Boise State’s lead down to 57-55. The Broncos proceeded to go on a game-winning 11-2 run.   “We were in the game right up to the end. We just really had a tough time finishing the game,” guard RJ Eytle-Rock said. “I don’t think they did anything special to be honest. I just felt like we didn’t guard them good enough down the stretch.”   Multiple factors determine every game, but the foul and free throw disparity in favor of Boise State was hard to ignore. Frequent fouls called on the Aggies put the Broncos in the bonus midway through the second half. The Broncos shot 28 free throws in the game and made 19. The free throw

No. 21 Utah State gymnastics places second in dual meet against No. 24 Boise State – Cache Valley Daily

BOISE, Idaho – Brie Clark knows it’s all about getting on the same page. Once the Aggies do that, watch out. Clark, Utah State’s freshman phenom from Daphne, Alabama, captured her sixth floor title of the season with a career-high-tying 9.950 to help the Aggies record a season-high 49.500 on the event, which is tied for second all-time in school history. Unfortunately for No. 21 Utah State, it couldn’t overcome troubles on both vault and beam as No. 24 Boise State beat the Aggies 196.950-195.800 in a Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference dual meet Friday night at ExtraMile Arena. “Once we find a rhythm and find what works, and keeps us all on the same page for all four events, once we figure that out, we’ll be set,” said Clark, whose 9.950 on floor is tied for third all-time in school history. “It’s just figuring that out, and I feel like we are slowly but surely making progress and getting through it and figuring it out.” Clark is now tied for sixth with her six single-season floor titles. Rebecca Wells won the all-around for the fourth time this season with a 38.500. The junior also tied for second on vault with

Aggies need to play ‘to our standard on every play’ – Cache Valley Daily

Utah State head coach Ryan Odom looks on against the Colorado State during the first half of an NCAA college basketball game Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022, in Fort Collins, Colo. (AP Photo/Jack Dempsey) BOISE, Idaho — Utah State (15-12, 6-8) takes on Mountain West leader Boise State (20-6, 11-2) on Saturday afternoon. The Aggies will try to snap a three-game losing streak and get revenge for their three-point loss to the Broncos earlier this season. “We’re excited to get back out on the court. We know it’s going to be a tough game, but we’re not afraid of it,” head coach Ryan Odom said. “We’re looking forward to the opportunity.” Utah State’s three-game losing streak is their second-longest of the year and the Aggies are at risk of tying their longest streak if they lose at Boise. Odom thinks his squad has learned from their last two double-digit losses. “The guys have learned from all of that and I think the biggest thing is just that game the other day, for our purposes and our standards, just wasn’t up to par,” Odom said. “We have to make sure that we’re playing to our standard on every play. That’s really been
