Jazz snap three-game home skid, beat Pistons 111-101 – Cache Valley Daily

(AP Photo/Rick Bowmer) SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Rudy Gobert scored 24 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and blocked four shots to lead the Utah Jazz to a 111-101 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Friday night. Bojan Bogdanovic added 23 points, Jordan Clarkson had 20 and Mike Conley 19 for Utah (30-16), which snapped a three-game home losing streak and won for just the second time in eight games overall. Cade Cunningham scored 25 points to lead Detroit, which lost for the third time in four games. Trey Lyles had 16 points, Rodney McGruder 15 and Saddiq Bey 13. The Pistons rallied from two separate 10-point deficits and cut Utah’s lead to one at 95-94 on a floater from Josh Jackson midway through the fourth quarter. Gobert scored back-to-back baskets to prevent Detroit from overtaking the Jazz and pushed the lead back to six at 100-94 with 5:30 left. Another conference game, another close loss for USU – Cache Valley Daily

LOGAN, Utah – Like most of Utah State’s conference matchups, Thursday night’s game came down to one possession that did not go in the Aggies’ favor. By three points, Utah State lost at home to Boise State 62 to 59. “Tough. That’s the word to describe tonight. We fought,” guard Steven Ashworth said. “Going down the stretch we knew we had winning plays to make and we came up short on a few.” Tied at 59, the Aggies had the ball with 44 seconds left. They worked the ball around looking for a chance to take the lead. The Broncos closed down several promising options and with the shot clock winding down, forward Justin Bean put up a mid-range jumper. It rattled out and Boise State came down with a rebound. The Broncos dribbled down the clock and guard Marcus Shaver, Jr. fired a 3-pointer with two seconds remaining. Going into the last minute of play, if any Boise State guard was to take a three, the Aggies would have wanted it to be Shaver.
