Utah State football receiving votes in both polls – Cache Valley Daily

(AP Photo/John McCoy) LOGAN, Utah – Following its 46-13 Mountain West Championship Game win against No. 19 San Diego State on Saturday, Utah State football received 109 votes in The Associated Press poll to rank 26th nationally and 85 votes in the coaches’ poll to rank 27th. It is the fourth time this season that Utah State has garnered top-25 votes, including the second time in as many weeks as USU received eight votes in last week’s coaches poll to rank tied for 32nd. Utah State is 10-3 on the season and won its first-ever Mountain West Championship following its win against San Diego State. USU finished the regular season tied for first in the Mountain Division of the MW with a 6-2 league record. Overall, it is USU’s 13th conference championship in school history and first since winning the 2012 Western Athletic Conference title. (AP Photo/Tony Dejak) CLEVELAND (AP) — Donovan Mitchell scored 35 points, Rudy Gobert had 20 rebounds and five blocks and the Utah Jazz survived Cleveland’s late surge for their fourth straight win, 109-108 over the Cavaliers on Sunday. Bojan Bogdanovic added 16 points and Rudy Gay had 15 for Utah, which made 20 3-pointers and gave away a 15-point lead in the fourth. The Cavs had a chance to win, but Darius Garland missed a 28-footer with 2.9 seconds to go, and Jarrett Allen couldn’t get his tip to drop as Cleveland had its winning streak stopped at four. Garland scored 31 points, Allen added 17 points and 11 rebounds and rookie Evan Mobley had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Cavs, who were back at home after beating Dallas, Miami and Washington.
