He finished with 13 points. “It’s what I do,” Mitchell said. “At the end of the day, sometimes you just got to go out there and just get it. My team trusts me, I trust myself, I put the work in for those moments and never let the moment get too big. I missed the game winner the other night, so you got to respond.” Jordan Clarkson scored 20 points off the bench to lead Utah. Photo by Rick Parker LOGAN, Utah — Utah State volleyball was well-represented in the Mountain West All-Conference awards announced Wednesday by the league office. Head coach Rob Neilson was named the Mountain West Coach of the Year, while senior Corinne Larsen, senior Kristy Frank and sophomore Tatum Stall were each named to the MW All-Conference Team. In his second year at the helm of the Aggies, Neilson led Utah State to a 22-8 record and the program’s first regular season conference title since joining the MW. The 22 wins are the most in a season since the team went 24-9 in 2010, while USU’s 14 home victories this year are the most since 2012. With a hitting percentage of .238, Utah State is also on pace to tie the program record previously set in 2016. Picked to finish ninth in the conference in the preseason poll, Nielson and the Aggies snapped numerous losing streaks to MW opponents this season, defeating Boise State and Wyoming for the first time since 2017, and besting Colorado State for the first time since 1982. (AP Photo/Ted S. Warren) SEATTLE (AP) — For 120 minutes, Real Salt Lake never threatened, failing to send even one shot in the direction of the Seattle Sounders net. When it came time for the penalty shootout, RSL was right on target. Justen Glad scored the deciding goal in the sixth round of the shootout, and Real Salt Lake beat Seattle 6-5 in the tiebreaker after a scoreless game to eliminate the Sounders in the opening round of the MLS Cup playoffs Tuesday night. Real Salt Lake won despite failing to record a shot in regulation and extra time. It was the first time in league history a team failed to register a shot in a playoff match. “The onus is on the home team to put on a show,” interim Real Salt Lake coach Pablo Mastroeni said. “The onus is on us to find a way to win.” Despite the lack of offense all night, RSL was perfect in the shootout — and David Ochoa saved Kelyn

Aggie football aiming for ninth win as conference championship still a possibility – Cache Valley Daily

LOGAN—With one week left in the regular season of Mountain West football, very little is settled.   The Mountain Division’s best team will play the West Division’s best team for the conference championship, but the current scenario can be a bit confusing. There isn’t a team in either division that has clinched its spot.   The West has been narrowed down to two teams: San Diego State and Fresno State. The only way Fresno State gets into the championship game is if Fresno State wins and San Diego State loses. If both teams win, or both teams lose, the Aztecs will go.   As for the Mountain Division, Utah State, Boise State and Air Force are all in a three-way tie for the top spot. All three took turns picking wins up against each other: Utah State beat Air Force, Air Force beat Boise State and Boise State beat Utah State.   Here are the scenarios, broken down as simply as possible.   Scenario No. 1: Boise State, Air Force and Utah State all win.   If all three teams win, Air Force gets the bid. All three teams would have the same record, and while that may not seem
