Utah State women place second for best-ever finish at Mountain West XC Championships – Cache Valley Daily

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – All five of the Utah State scoring runners were among the top-19 finishers and senior Katie Haviland placed 10th overall to help lead the 28th-ranked Aggie women to their best-ever finish at the Mountain West Cross Country Championships on Friday morning. Utah State finished with a team score of 73 points on the UNM North Golf Course to place second ahead of No. 12 Colorado State, which took third with 75 points. New Mexico, the top-ranked team in the nation, captured its 14th-consecutive Mountain West title as the Lobos swept the top-five scoring positions to record a perfect score of 15 points. “The women ran really well,” said USU head coach Artie Gulden. “They were focused on trying to beat Colorado State and did it. We worked up really well and beat them in the last K.” Prior to Friday, Utah State’s best-ever finish on the women’s side at the Mountain West Cross Country Championships was in 2017, when the Aggies took third en route to their first-ever appearance at the NCAA Championships. “The women have all had a chip on our shoulders since Colorado State beat us at the conference meet last year,” Haviland said. “They are a

USU soccer ends regular season with 2-1 loss at Boise State – Cache Valley Daily

BOISE, Idaho – Senior midfielder Ashley Cardozo tied Utah State’s single season assist mark as she recorded her 11th of the year on freshman defender Addi Coon’s first collegiate goal on Thursday afternoon. The goal evened the match at 1-1, but a second goal by Boise State in the opening half gave the Broncos the 2-1 win.  The two first-half goals were the most that the Aggies have allowed all season as the Utah State defense had only given up four goals over the opening 45 minutes going into the match. The goals were also the only shots on goal for the Broncos, who finished the match with 14 shots to the Aggies’ six.  With the Aggies’ trailing 1-0 after a goal by the Broncos in the 17th minute, Coon fired a shot from the far wing in the 31st minute that found its way through the keeper’s hands and into the back of the net. Coon became the 10th different Aggie to record a goal this season and scored the goal off of a pass from Cardozo. The assist gave Cardozo her 11th of the season and tied the all-time single-season mark in school history, matching Jessica Brooksby, who

(AP Photo/Michael Wyke) HOUSTON (AP) — Bojan Bogdanovic scored 19 points and seven Utah Jazz players reached double figures in a 122-91 win over the Houston Rockets on Thursday night. Utah is off to its first 4-0 start since the 2006-07 season. Joining Bogdanovic, Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell, Eric Paschall, Hassan Whiteside, Jordan Clarkson and Joe Ingles also scored in double figures for the Jazz. “I think every night, it’s going to be a different player playing good basketball, but at the end of the night, as long as we’re getting the (win), we’re all going to be happy,” Bogdanovic said. Christian Wood led Houston with 16 points and Jalen Green had 13 points on 3 of 16 shooting. He missed all eight of his 3-point attempts. Rockets rookie Alperen Sengun had 14 points. Houston’s shooting struggled, particularly from behind the 3-point line. The Rockets made just 9 of 44 from beyond the arc, just 20.5%.
